I found a straight axle conv. kit

There was a section in last months Four Wheeler magazine about solid axle conversions, one on a full size bronco, one on a toyota, and another on a chevy. Well, the company that makes the kit for the bronco also has one for explorers. It is only $1799, it is completely bolt on they say you only have to drill 11 holes and the other holes are already there from the factory, and it adds 2 inches of lift to your explorer, so if you have a 6" lift, you will have 8" after the swap, you can also get a 10" or 12", you just have to get a spring over in the rear w/ blocks if you go too high in the front. You can also order the dana 44 off of the NAtional Tire website( http://www.natltire.com/pages/conversion.html ) for $1500 and you can get any gear you want and you can also have them install a locker too. Here's what the kit includes:

•Left and Right Radius Arms
•Front radius arm wraps
•Radius arm relocation brackets
•Relocation bracket cross member
•Adjustable trac bar
•Trac bar locator template
•Coil support blocks
•Drop pitman arm (Skyjacker)
•Steering knuckle to steering knuckle tie rod assembly
•Complete adjustable drag link assembly
•Complete 14 piece bushing kit

Hope you guys like that.

Their price on the Dana 44 axle assembly looks good. But for $1800.00 you could get a custom installation which would get you much more wheel travel.

Although it would probably be an improvement over most modified TTB setups the kit they have won't give you as much articulation as other solid axle setups.

It just depends on what you're looking for. The ease of a bolt on kit or the functionality of a custom designed setup.
