I got ticketed for my lockright..

Man, Doug, that SUX!!! I'd find the pix of us doing the install, the owners manual, and download all the stuff off Powertrax's website pertaining to how it works and the possibility of tires chirping when you corner, and take that to court. I would also ask the officer how long the tire squealed for in court. I would think if it was a short chirp, any "normal" (I say that because of the state you live in) judge would toss it out. Sounds like that sorry excuse for a public servant was just trying to line the city coffers!!! :shoot:

The powertrax makes a "chirp chirp chirp chirp" noise when i go around turns its not one long squeal... like if i was on the gas to hard. I cant power around turns, with no sway bars id roll.

I think it's funny taking a slow corner with chirping tires and having everyone's heads snap and look at you like you are a wreckless driver then they see a truck barely moving out of a parking spot.
Gotta love the locker

Here in Louisiana if you get a speeding ticket and have recently upgraped to bigger tires with out changing the speedo, you can get out of the ticket by getting your speedo recalibrated. So i am sure if you get some proof of why you lockright chirps the tires they should let it go.

I used to live in Mid-Michigan (for 2 years), and I brought my butt back to Southern California where I'm from. My brother-in-law who still lives in Mid-Michigan saw this cop speed through a 4-way stop, and he told his friend what an idiot that cop was. The cop heard the conversation, told my brother-in-law's friend to "Get Lost" and took my brother-in-law in for questioning and 1 night in jail.

When I visited Mid-Michigan for the first time, my wife (who was at the time just a friendly friend of a friend) took me w/her to the Police station to get some witness affadavits for a camera and some keys that were stolen from her Apartment during her "Going Away" party. Both cops in the station then instantly questioned me, asking her if, "I was the suspect!"

I told those cops I had better things to do than steal cameras from people and victimize women. I told those cops that they didn't know enough for what their badges were worth, and I told the one cop who just came out of the Police Academy that she didn't know much, and she had better re-enroll! Those cops didn't get the satisfaction of jailing this proud Black man!

Yessir, I'm a dark-skinned Nubian brother...:D My wife is French-Canadian (Blonde/Green). Her brother gets picked on in Durand because that's a dumb hick town, and he's often stupid for speaking his mind in public there...

"What's a Nubian?":D

Sorry, had to. One of my favorite movie lines ever.

UNaggravate yourself.... we all feel you pain

I live in Jersey and I KNOW you do not need a careless driving on your record..... if nothing but for the insurance…. because if you get another ticket ..you’ll be thinking - I should have fought the first one

COPS ? There are a lot of nice well grounded cops out there but…most are not empowered…..they are under pressure: to give out tickets – a recurring line item on the town budgets … they have families and want to get promotions … and most of all - they have to make sure their superiors don’t think they are hang out at Dunkin Donuts all day.
Like everyone else! How else could it work?
Its not only NJ - It happen went small towns start getting big….I think

The Ticket: Go to court ! .....tell it to the judge
A pain and not your first choice but that’s how it works
(You got the ticket for the chirp not any mods… I think…. and if you WERE screwing up and “layed a 50 foot patch” down the road ...you have to be the judge on that)

Think about : Chirping the wheels?
No one ever chirped the (a) wheel(s) on a public road:
Slipped on a frick'in clutch….stalled out on the clutch? honestly misjudging a shift? accelerated too hard going over crap on the road or while turning or on road seam

Go to COURT!
Your Honor
I have an SUV …. ALL STREET LEGAL I thought I was stalling …..I gave it a touch too much gas....the vehicle lurched ..the thing got out from under me for a second ...but I maintained control at all times .....unfortunately the ?right rear? wheel broke against the pavement …and the fine officer who didn't “show” this evening thought I was being a wise ASS. Which was not the case!

If I was trying to “lay a patch” you would have seen one 50 feet long and I would have light up the whole street .......but we all know that would have been stupid and irresponsible!”.
HAHAHA I know you see where I coming from?

If you think it was unjust….. be honest ……….the judge will know it …..and let him worry if he is going to make an objective decision.

I bet if you had a sign on your car “I am an attorney”, the cop would have washed your car and sent you off with a smile.

But the world does suck sometimes…..

PS always try "but officer... I'm on the job"

its really cool to be net working with a broader ranger of people i used to subsribe to a window cleaning net work but beacase every one owned thier own bussines pretty much all of them were white guys and if any one else tried to join who didnt speak english very well they got pissed on so they left im not saying im the most unracist person around but i dont chose my friends by the colour of thier skin.when i was in the states i met a lot of cool people of colours and social backgrounds

Igottwo

He was pulling out of the parking light, made a left hand turn, and was coming to a yellow light. there was no rev up of the engine. when you accelerate, the locker engages, no matter how much gas you give it, works on centrifical force I believe. Well, when you take a sharp turn, under accel, the axles lock together, and the tires spin at the same speed, so there for the out side tire (right rear) will be moving at the correct speed for turning, but the inside tire, will chirp as it's spinning slightly faster that it should be to make the turn. Posi tracs will do the same thing, and so will limited slips under the right circumstances.

Doug's truck couldn't lay rubber if he tried, the tires have too much traction, and if he got them to break loose, something will break. To try to spin them going around a sharp bend will also be bad, that thing gets a bit tippy making sharp turns at high rates of speed.

I was in Hazelton PA, and was making a u turn in the rain, so my light turned green, and I punched it. My LS kicked in, and I hooked a perfect 180 two lanes wide. But I didn't notice the cop sitting behind me at the time. I saw him out of the corner of my eye while I was going around, and when I strightened out, he just gave me a friendly wave:D Jersey, I don't even want to think about what would have happened, so I don't mess around here.

Oh well, small town cop syndrome, just remember, all the ******* cops that abuse there power, were all picked on when they were kids. Napolean Complex

Well, easy now hahaha
This is not a gas leak hahaha
I do exaggerate and I tried to paint a colorful story.....and maybe I'm missing something ...but if the thing is street legal ...is it? Maybe that is my problem ..I don't know

If it is legal …and even if it does lock up ..that may be over the cop and the judge’s head and does not matter….He is not in court to rewite the DMV regs......so change the ticket to "unsafe vehicle" the fine may be less. no points? who knows?...worth a try?

The question is: Was HE driving carelessly.

To keep it simple.
What's wrong with "I may have had a mechanical failure? but I wasn't wise assing. " AND I think it has been corrected.

AHH Captain …..It’s a big truck with manya moving part… I donta know what I canna do “
Capitan Kirk & Scottie? "Over 45 guys - know that

Those of us who live in NJ know “we get gigged on our insurance” for everything! Your insurance surchage could be more than the truck is worth - So.... go for it!

Otherwise, I must be totally dense and will fall down in front of the next Explorer I see passing on the road
hahaha

it was just a thought .. just "trying to give aid and comfort to a fellow guy from Jersey"

Napolean Complex - right you are !!! but the judges know who is and who isn't.. I have friends who are judges. It can work in your favor.

PS Call me silly... if you guys are tooling around town and these things do lock up ..............?
:D :D :D

Let me tell you. i was dricing carefully i wasnt on the gas hard my foot didnt slip on the clutch. I have 2 people to vouch for the fact i was driving safely and in control of the vehicle. If i didnt feel i was in the right i would have never started this thread. I have no problem accepting responsibilty for my actions. But when i am accused of doing something i didnt do I gonna speak out. and im not going to be happy.

Ah, c'mon Doug, we know it's because of all the torque in that 427 you shoehorned under the hood..... :D

Naw, face it Doug...........you were speeding cause one of those trees were after you again.:D

Robb

lol, damn trees

Doug, don't you know someone in "the family" that can take care of that ticket for you? :D

I'm so grateful I don't live in NJ. My manager and co-workers are there. I've visited a few times. If I had to move there, my wife would divorce me cuz we probably wouldn't be able to find a Super Wal-mart in the neighborhood.

Yes youre all right, i dropped the clutch on the 427 to run from the evil trees. :D

you got it all wrong, it's a 460:D

Igottwo, I didn't mean to lash out, just trying to fill the gaps, I understand what you were saying 110%:D

Sorry…. It was probably me ..and I was ready to apologize.
I was just tying to give out hypotheticals……with the good intentions and perhaps over animated:
sometimes when you are pissed - the “forest through trees thing” kicks in … Little did I know that some would take the time to share with me diagnosing and the abilities of your “X”

My simple point: In my wildest dreams and if it still is a rational society….. the lawgivers NEVER intended a person, in your situation to be violator of the careless driving statutes… I think…
Don’t cave in! Fight it!

It only gets better....Welcome to the Twilight Zone

My wife was in a parking lot (mall at the circle for NJ guys) today, driving against the parking bays (who doesn’t), at 3 mph and accidentally clipped a rear view mirror on someone's car.
We are talking the most minor of accidents
--- In my frick’in car!!!!! LOL

The only damage was a broken side mirror on the other car and a small corner of my wind deflector broke off

Sit down for this!!!!!!

The cop gave her a ticket for careless driving in a parking lot!!!!!.
HAHAA you can NOT make this **** up !

My simple point : In my wildest dream and if it still is a rational society….. the lawgivers NEVER intended a person in THAT situation to get a ticket.

If he was doing his job..he should have locked her up for 3 days .......so I could get some peace and quiet!

When are we going to court .....maybe we can carpool .....and also .....when are we moving
hahahaha!
