98 EB
Let me start by saying I have learned so much in the last week about Explorer's I am amazed. I have a 98 EB and just found out it has a 4.10 rear end with a LSD. Wow!! When I purchased it from Carmax 3 years ago I did not do any homework except on engines and trim levels. I have been a gear head most of my life but mainly with VW's and Audi's. I am so pleased to see the same type of following that I remember with VW's with Explorers. Everyone here on this site is awesome and completley looking out for guys like me who are eather new to Explorers or have no insight on vehicles but are interested in them. The step by step write ups on anything from lifts to doing brakes or finally figuring out what those numbers on my drivers door are for are AWESOME!!! I hope to contribute something here soon. I have a pretty good idea on a spare mount I just need to work it out on paper. I will submit it soon. For my explorer I plan on doing the 2" shackle lift with the torsion bar front to start and a crossdrilled and slotted brake upgrade with EBC Greenstuff pads. Maybe the 3" body lift down the road. I just put a class IV hitch on and found in the website where the hitch wiring was at. I am now a lifer. Thanks to everyone. You have saved me money and have taken out any guess work that comes with working on something for the first time.

hey there jeff welcome to the forum hows it going its me sam

Hi and welcome. I think most people here would shy away from drilled rotors, slotted is fine but the holes in a drilled rotor tend to make the metal weaker at those points. I'd recommend a dimpled/slotted rotor, EBC makes some really nice sport rotors for the
Ex's, that is what I have on mine and they have been great.

I remember when they would take the rotor and actually drill the holes but, and I don't know this for sure, they now cast the rotor with the holes and slots. I know on the older ones the drilling would change the structure of the metal because of the heat and it would make the metal around the holes brittle. I don't know if this has changed by casting the whole rotor. Summit has a good deal on frt rotors for $63 and rear for $53. I do agree. I am also a little skeptical but that's a nice price.

how do you know the rear end gearing i want to know mine
On the driver door there is a spec sticker. On the bottom of the sticker where it says axle there is a code like mine said D2. I went to the spec forum and looked it up. It gives you the ratio and open or LSD. Since I am new to this website I don't know how to link the right forum.
