So i posted this in the 3rd gen section, but i wanted to get some feedback by tomorrow so i have something to work on all day.. here it is, sorry for the long story.

So, I went offroading today. It was one of the best sessions I have ever had. Pouring rain, huge puddles, creek was flooding, overall awesome day.

...until i hit a boulder. My front tire slammed into a boulder as I was crossing the creek. Car came to a complete stop, and everyone in the car was a bit shooken up. Car didnt turn off or anything, and i backed out, and headed back to our meet-up site. Everything seemed fine. About 10 minutes later, we went into the mud pit, and my car stalls/turns off. I try to turn it on, and it cranks, but doesnt turn on. I finally get it turned on, and drive about a 8th of a mile, and it turns of. Couldnt get it on for almost 20 minutes (it cranks, and ignition would fire, but it wouldn't "start", kind of like when u run out of gas)

SO, my car wouldnt start. I had a friend tow me out to the main site where I could take a look at my car. I open the hood, and the first thing I take a look at is the airbox. I open it, and there is a small puddle of water on the bottom of the box. Couldnt get it started for almost an hour. I went through a lot of big buddles, and drove through the river. So I know i had a lot of water in the engine bay. But again, ive offroaded alot, and it wasnt anything subsantially more than the usual.

I finally got it on, but my idle was rough. My rpm would go up and down. My throttle/gas peddle had no effect. No matter how lightly or hard i pressed the peddle, the RPM would stay at IDLE. When I put the car in D(drive), the car would move by itself. It would stay around 1k RPM, but my throttle had no effect. Its as if the car was driving itself. So basically, I let it do its thing till we got off the trail. Went to gas station to see if I can figure it out (mind you its pouring rain), and turn the car off. I can't "see" what the problem is, so I close it up, and decide to just try to make it home.

SOOOO, car starts up first time, and my throttle works somewhat normally. Problem is that, at around 2.5k-3k, my engine bogs like crazy. During the drive home, it would shut off randomly. I had to take the side streets home, and not go over 40mph, or let my car go over 2.5k rpm.

These are the problems I'm having so far:
Engine bogs like crazy ~2.5k rpm
Engine randomly turns off
"Engine Service Soon" light is on
"Wrench" or service tool light is on

Now, I have a feeling I may have gotten water in the engine through the intake. But I am not sure why it would affect the car only at a certain RPM. I did press the fuel reset switch on the passanger side, and removed and reinserted the fuel pump relay fuse. Car started up fine after that (still a rough idle). I read the manually and it said the fuel pump shuts off when car is in a substantial jolt. I don't know why that would affect the engine after it starts though.

I need help troubleshooting where the problem is, and fixing the problem!

Thank you in advance!

You probably came close to hydrolocking the engine.

Did you waterproof the driveline? The differential's, transmission, and probably transfer case all have vent tubes. They usually have holes stamped in them to prevent siphoning. Unless you ran new vent tubes to higher locations without anti-siphon holes I'd be checking the transmission and differential fluid's color.

Here is a related link.

I am guessing the engine is misfiring. Im about to take the plugs out and let them dry. same with the distributor. MAF sensor is gunna get a cleaning too...

Also gunna change my oil.

just wondering why i get a normal idle, but crazy misfiring at higher rpms....

Update: GOt the codes pulled, this is whatsup.... 8 codes total, crap..:

P2106 - Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Limited Power.
P2104 - Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Idle
P0122 - Throttle Position Circuit Low
P2111 - Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Open
P2135 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “A” /"B" Voltage Correlation
P0102 - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input

SO where do I start?

Looks like your drive by wire module or throttle unit is not working...

This could be a problem with the module or controller that drives the throttle didn't like water or mud...Did you look inside the throttle body for any debris?

x2 throttle controller. Can you reseat the connectors for the throttle and a small dab of dielectric grease on the pins?
