I need a cool company name, free money.

Well I am gonna be doing quite a bit of side work in the near future so I need to setup a company name for me. I do tool, die, fixture design and CNC programming. I have to com up with a unique name and keep it simple. You would be amazed how many names are actually taken. Any ideas?

The name doesn't even really have to have anything to do with what I do. Even a nice, unique, intresting, 1 word name. If I use your idea...$2 to your paypal account. :D

Cool Tool Fools...lol

i'll think about names...

but my question.. why the user name change?

didn't want my last name associated with everything anymore.

X Designs - (r) maybe

just keep it simple

Creative Designs
Creative Tool and Die

Custom Designs...

Doesn't matter if the name is out there unless it is copyrighted you can use a variation of a name too.

TDF Design

For financial reference you can just use your soc on taxes for for the employer ID or you can get a read employer ID for nothing I can guide you to the form if you need it.

Just remember if you plan on doing it for a while and you don't claim it on your taxes it will come back and haunt you. And remember there are a lot of things you can write off if you are doing this. There is the home office deduction, you can deduct your computer andy equipment... blah blah blah... Home office is a little tricky, but if you do all of this from home you can do it.

Keep them coming guys...some of these are real good. The guy told me to come up with a list of about 10 that I like and he will run through them.

Al Qaeda Tool and Die

Oh, wait, the object is to MAKE money so you don't want to use that.;)

I actually like the ones GaSouthern came up with.

How about:

Eastpointe Creative Solutions
Eastpointe Tool and Die
or, something with X-Factor in the title like X-Factor Design

I was just at the Metalform Expo about two weeks ago. It seams 90% of the tool and die shops are called "creative tool & die", "<insert name of the town> tool and die" or "precision tool & die".

Now, before you choose a name.
- Think about what makes you/your business special, different from the others. Are you more precise, faster leadtimes, offer greater flexibility, custon solutions, cheaper, new etc? Your busines name is the first part of your advertising.
- Do you primarely want clients from your neck of the woods or the entire state? If you want to stay local and everybody knows that where you are located is close to the industrial area, "<Your Streetname> Tool & Die" makes more sence then when you target out-of-state costumers who have no clue where your street is at.
- What industry do you target? If your target industry makes skateboards and jewlery for piercings, "WooDoo tool and die" might be a good idea. For the traditional industry, something more conservative and trustworthy might be better.
- Keep in mind that your busines will be listed in directories. Directories are normally alphabetical and most people start searching at the beginning. Therefore, a name starting with a letter from the beginning of the alphabet is preferable.
- Under tool and die, the Thomas Industrial Register has listed 2268 entries; the chance that the common names are already picked several times is pretty big! www.thomasregister.com

Some propositions at random without further investigation nor knowing more about your intentions:
- 24/7 Tool and Die (-> outstanding customer service, local, numbers come first in listings)
- A Good Neighbor Tool & Die (-> local, trustworthy)
- New Kid Tool & Die (-> innovative)
- Modern Solution Tool and Die (-> do I have to say? ;) )
- Built-For-You Tool & Die (-> solve your problem, no standard bs)
- Your Spec Tool & Die (-> same as above)
- Picking up HotCtyPlaya's idea of the fools: No Fool's Tools

Edit:  compared to the other ideas, not too cool

BTW. If murderers murder people, do die makers make you die? :D

A Cut Above T&D

-that'll get you first in the phonebook :D

I agree with Donkey Boy there - go for a unique name that makes you stand out.

I started out a few years ago with my software company, Bit Twiddlers, and also had a hard time thinking of a name. My mother actually suggested it to me since she had heard me use the phrase before and found it unusual. Since then the unusual name has caused a number of questions and has helped the company to stick more in peoples' minds.

I combined a Punch word and coordinated it with a company motto:

SUMMIT (Industry Type)
"Expect Peak Performance"

Another great way is to (aw hell what do they call this, when you use the first letter of each word to form a name)

Cascade Office Products Assoc = COPA

or

Cascade Refinishing And Protection = CRAP (my favorite and its an actual comapany)

Why not this?

Fab-One Re-tool and Die = FORD hehehe

Gear-Tech Tooling

Widgets-N-Die

Or do the cool one word thing like Prince, Cher Madonna or Rosanne.

You say Currie and everyone knows. Maybe "Plethura"

I better quit

precision tool and die

American is allways a good thing to start a name with and because it starts with a so it will be near the top of the list when people are looking for you so the american aaardvarks tool and die company p/l could be a start?
