2003 Ford Explorer XLT
Hello, I have been driving my 03 Explorer XLT for awhile now and finally have found some time and money to make it nice. I'm 18 and would like to drive something that doesn't look like a handed down car from my parents.

It's a mineral gray (appears tan) XLT, with black trim, and I very nice black and silver interior.

I recently sprayed the inside of my chrome wheels black to imitate the FX4 F150 wheels. I taped off the wheels, 3 coats of paint, 2 of clear coat. I also got a great deal on some kumo all terrain tires for 103.00 a piece. They have great side tread and almost look like mud tires. I also got a professional window tint done on the front windows for 70 bucks total.

I did everything over the last few days and have already been getting all kinds of head turns and comments.

What I need advice on is what to do with the front of the car? I don't want to lean too much towards the off road look and want to keep things kinda classy. So I don't want to throw a brush guard on it. Projector headlights with a aftermarket grill that imitates the Lincoln Aviator would be nice but projector lights are a bit far from my price range.

Any suggestions? Comments would be appreciated.

can you post pics of it as it is? Go to the modified 02-05 section and look for the halo thread. A member is making halos for 2002-2009 explorers that you might want to check out.

welcome nate u got pics of ur explorer

Like you said, new grills, check fleabay, bunch of them.

for the color you are talking about, clear corners, and a nice Billet Grille will go a long ways.

Also, a Westin Ultimate Bull Bar with some nice driving lights looks classy for O/R look and street look.

The bullbar, grille, and clear corners will make the X pop VERY nice, but still look classy and clean.

Definitely, I will look up a set of clear corners. I have to take apart my headlights and clean them anyway. A new grill is already on the way.

I'll post some pictures of what I have done so far after I'm done with some body work. I'm touching up some scratches and fixing a dent in the bumper.

I just did some 98-03 f150 tow hooks(search for the posts) and i think it really completed the front end. Looks alot better.

good luck
