Hello, I have a 2002 Ranger XL Off Road with 67K miles and I need to replace the front pads. I've replaced brakes on other vehicles relying on common sense (watch how you take it apart) but now I'm much older with bad knees and I want to know exactly what to expect... tools and etc. Thanks in advance for the tips. Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the Ranger section. You have to remove the caliper bolts first, then the caliper, and the brake pads. A caliper piston tool is recommended for pushing the piston back into the caliper. Watch the fluid level in the master cylinder. Don't let the caliper hang from the hose. Use a hook or a stretch cord for support. Anti squeal on the back of the brake pads is recommended.

Also do not forget to regrease the slider pins.
