I know the fans under the seats turn on when you select the A/C option and they are rather noisy but recently I have been using my heated seats and I can hear a fan noise revving up and slowing down.

Anybody else hear noise when using their heated seats?

On full power I have been able to hear the fan, but I usually run it on the middle setting which is not as loud. Playing with the settings it seems to me that the fan only blows air from behind the front seats, so the temperature of the air is relative to the temperature behind the front row. With the rear temperature settings on the seat seems cooler than if the air is focused on the front only.

I really thought the "heated" part had nothing to do with a fan?

I thought the heated part was just a heating element located in the cushions?

I have also heard the fan from the seat when using "heat".
It is not very loud......but it is not what I expected.

My understanding is that the seats use Peltier elements for cooling and heating.

In cooling mode, the heat is expelled into the cabin, with the cooled air being directed through the seating surface.

In heating mode, the polarity on the peltier is reversed, and the cold is expelled into the cabin, with the heated air being directed through the seating surface.

Wow... Very interesting.. Thanks!

I would never have guessed a fan would be normal operation on heated seats.

You're welcome.

I too was surprised, I just assumed it would have heating elements in there.

I hear the noise too. When you have the luxury seating package, which consists of the heated and cooled seats, the heat for the heated seats is blown out of the seats. And for the cooled seats, the cold air is blown out of the seats.
