OK boys and girls you helped me when i first wanted to lift my 01 sport and it went great(shackles and TT)! I'll post pics later But the initial "fun" is gone now and i want a little more! I'm thinking a body lift may be in order but time is a bit limited now and i kinda like how it looks with the back end a little higher so i want to know if an add a leaf work well for me? Ps i replaced the leaf springs with ones from a 4 door cuz it was still sagging a bit. Any help would be great and if someone want to convince me that i can do a body lift without a lift and in a weekend what would be great too! thanks!

A body lift seems like a big task, but its really not once you get into to it....it takes a bit of time not because it is hard and you need lots of tools and knowledge...but because it is just a lot of little things that add up "easy work just lots of it" If you have a socket set, a jack or two, and some scrap wood and know how to use to use those items then you are good to go. If you have access to air tools, then you can cut the time by a good amount. I did it alone on my 99 4 door and it took me a weekend (Fri, Sat, and Sun) only put in like an hour on Friday between school and work getting access to the bolts, then about 4-7 hours (cant remember exactly) on both sat and sun... and that is including time to stop and break, eat, putting on new tires etc. so all together at most it was like 15 hours or so by myself with basic tools I listed.

Then a friend in an 03 sport needed help putting her BL on (since she had surgery on her shoulder) so me and 2 other members from this forum helped her out and if it wasn't for the front 2 bolts it would have been done in like 6 hours... still got it done on just sat & sun. but the front two body mounts are not the smartest layout in my mind...the bolts come up from the bottom on those two and the part they screw into is shaped like a bowl and it holds water around the bolts and rusts them to hell and beyond... the bolts on hers actually lost about 1/8th to a 1/4 of an inch of diameter where the treads were just because the rust and wear....spray those two with PB blaster daily for a few days to a week before

Just find some how to's on this forum, spray the bolts, invite a friend or two over to give a hand and make sure you have some food and drink of your choice with you...

Thanks that worked!! I'm sure that i can handle it i just wasnt sure if you could jack it up using wood or if it would be bad. how does it work with the Steering extension? Ps im looking for braided stainless brake lines any ideas?

I have a 2in Bl and it is not needed for that...if you go to a 3in BL then you do need it it is simple...when you do the bl just undo the bolt that holds the steering shaft together and then you just put in the spacer... very simple once you see it...

idk if you just want the brake lines all ready of if you will want them with the BL but raising the body will not affect the brake lines from the frame to the brake itself..

Im looking at upgrading the brakes anyway with Green Stuff pad and im still looking for rotors so any suggestions would be great. I figured that the Steering extension wouldn't be to bad I just wanted to make sure that it was a pain for this truck. Thanks

A common setup that some people from the forum run is powerslot rotors and hawk performance pads, but it seems you have your brake pads all ready picked...

the only reason i was looking at the green stuff pads was because thats what i have on my civic si and and i haven't had a problem with them in 3 years. how are the hawk pads with brake dust? When i first got my x i has a horrible time with brakes with pads sheering off and then a cracked rotor, whoever had the truck b4 me put in junk and im still paying 4 it (dust coved on of my rims and i cant get it off).

One more thing, whats a good bl kit for my X? I'v heard that some are a lot better than others and i would like it if i didn't have to make custom bumper brackets

Get the body lift for an 01 sport trac. All will work fine except the back brackets just a little trimming to the bracket will fix that. I have an 01 sport and did the bl myself in about 7 hours total. I was just down in horseheads this last weekend getting a manual t case from the junk yard. If you have any questions shoot me a pm the lift is pretty easy. I can walk ya through it.

Thanks I figured that a bl for a sport trac would work but i didn't want to buy it and then find out that it is completely different.

Ok i'v been looking around and I was wondering what is the best way to lift the front of my X, i already did a TT but I found this set of keys http://www.truckinsuspension.com/product_info.php?products_id=5507
and i was wondering if that would help any? Also cuz im sitting in class and have nothing better to do has anyone tried to lift a x with airbags, im not talking slammed, some of the show trucks out there have bags to get the extra height. Is this practical? prob not rite?
