The first ever:
Ford Explorer XRT V8 AWD

This is my 2000 Explorer XLT w/5.0L V8 and All Wheel Drive. My quest for this vehicle is to make it a better touring car. Designed for being comfortable, handle well, and to perform well.

XRT is just a trim level that I made up. It represents what I'm trying to achieve with my truck. It stands for nothing, just three simple letters standing for what I'm trying to do.

Current modifications include:

Engine/Transmission
MAC cold air intake
Two aux. transmission coolers
Aux. transmission filter
Transmission temp. gauge

Audio
Ford/Pioneer CD/MP3 headunit
Pioneer 6X8 Speakers
MTX ThunderForm stealth mount 10" subwoofer
Sound deadening

Lighting
Diamond heads and corners
5000k HIDs
KC Daylighter wired as high beams
Yellow fog bulbs

Wheels/Tires

Summer Setup
18X9 Saleen Replica wheels in White
255/55R18 Cooper Xeon XST

Winter Setup
15X7 Ford Tear Drop wheels
30X9.50 All Terrains

Exterior
Lund WindJammer(painted)
HiddenHitch Class III hitch
LED puddle lights
XLS Bumper cover

Interior
Painted trim
Switch relocation
Smoothed pieces
Custom Gen4 Taurus seats with rear console
Red Gauge Needles
LED Dome Lights

Good job Todd.. never even realized you put that radio in.

Good looking 2nd gen Ex. :)

As I pass the torch, Congrats

Thanks guys for the honor and the compliments! I owe it to this forum for the knowledge that I hold for the Explorer and my constant need to modify mine!

My fiberglass projects haven't been totally wrapped up yet, but keep an eye out for completed picutres.

Hey Iamtodd, how did you get the read speedo needles?

I really love this explorer.
The white wheels look PERFECT on there.

Every mod is very clean, tastefull, and well done.

I would be proud to own that explorer.

Thanks again guys. Too bad I can't have a custom bumper like Zorro ;)

For the needles I just removed the cluster and took a red sharpe to them. Much more pleasing to look at now. Although orange might have been a better choice.

And a night shot after a good polish, glaze, and wax courtesy of Menzerna:

" Keep talking and I could arrange one !!!!!!!!!!! "

Driving Light Mount Question

Was wondering how you mounted those KC lights. Are they mounted directly to the bumper? Or did you fabricate a bracket that the light mounts to? Either way, an extremely clean X.

Thanks

Just two L brackets mounted to the bumper structure.

They've since been removed. Maybe they'll go back on when I lift it. ;)
