Illuminating Window Controls

I have a 93 XLT and the window controls don't light up at night anymore? Does anyone have any ideas how to fix the contols? I don't think it can be a little that went out because the both controls are no longer illuminating.

They aren't supposed to light up. This is only in '95-up explorers

I planned to mount a small white LED in the side of the dash pointing at the window buttons, but then I just learned where the buttons where in the dark, so I can't be bothered anymore.
