06Bauer,
I recently put some Yokohama's on my 98 XLT 4x4 and am extremely happy with them. I have the Yoko A/T-S tires, which are not really 'all season' per se. The Yoko's are much quieter than the previous Dueler A/T's and these Yoko's really grip the road, regardless of conditions (I've driven on dry, wet, snow, and mud already).

When researching, I used the tirerack.com tool to compare a myriad of tires. I am not a fan of Goodyear or BF Goodrich tires, so I started looking at other options.

Here is one suggestion that might be of interest:

Yokohama Parada Spec-X

Good luck!

i use yokohoma geolanders a/t's, had them for 50k, they are great tires!
they have pushed the ranger through alot, and still look like they have about 50k more to go.
i drive on snow about 1/3 of the year. and often muddy, slushy, slippery conditions in the spring and fall. they are on there when we tow the boat, or when i go wheelin.
im very impressed with these tires, and strongly recommend them.

welcome

I have always run Cooper Discover ATRs on my Exploder since I bought it. I currently have Dean Wildcat Radial A/Ts which are made by Cooper and are the same exact tread pattern as the ATRs and are a few bucks cheaper. I personally think they are a great tire in all conditions on and off road, as long as you know what you are doing behind the wheel. Another great tire is the General Grabber A/T2s they are a really well made tire but they are pretty aggressive and if most of your driving is highway they will wear quickly. Whatever you do stay away from BFG A/T, a lot of people swear by them but I had them on my Blazer and from personal experience, they suck...anyway welcome and good luck tire shopping, and remember cheaper isn't better, tires are the things that keep your truck on the road and off your roof...

got Michelin LTX A/T2's on mine, haven't had them in snow yet, so far so good, great rain traction. . .
had a set on my heep for 80k, great in the snow and everywhere else. Still had 4/32's on them when i had to replace two leakers (alum rim corrosion), and cupped (bad ball joints).

Michelin LTX are great in the snow, (at least on an AWD Mounty). I live in New Hampshire and drive to Boston every work day. Have been driving this route since 1994. I hate to admit that I am one of those guys that get in the left lane when theres 5 inches of snow on the highway and travel at 65 mph or faster. Never had the rear kick out or the front end seem to plow straight when you wanna turn. Love these tires. Got more than 65,000 miles on the first set to boot.

The first winter I had my Exploder i had just put on my first set of Cooper Discoverer ATRs on her and it was great, now I drive pretty aggressively and have a tendency to leave pavement from time to time but those tires lasted me two years including two winters and two summers, they was still good tread left but I got rid of them because I got a puncture in my sidewall, so when I bought my 31" Wildcat Radial A/Ts (same as the Cooper ATRs) I bought another set of factory alloy 16" Explorer rims and also bout 31" Firestone Winterforce tires for those rims for winter and they are great. The all terrains always did really well in the snow but the Winterforces are the best tire I have ever driven in the snow, ice or any other fun winter conditions, Winterforces honestly make your 4wd vehicle unstoppable.
