in need of an eatc

i have a 97 explorer 5.0 awd. my eatc went out. the case is black. do i need one from a 97 same color or same color and the year doesnt matter? thanks this is my wifes car and winters comming and we have 2 kids. thanks

When mine went out, I was told that the important thing was the case color, the year wasn't all that important. How do you know the eatc is bad? Did you run any diagnostics? Let us know. I replaced mine because it wouldn't run the self diagnosis, but the replacement wouldn't either. There's a trick to running the self diagnosis, if that's you're problem, let me know, and I'll tell you what I did to fix it

The unit won't turn on or anything. I checked all the fuses and I'm getting power to the unit. The other day it came on for a while thenjust stopped again
