Current working on rebuilding my '03 Mountaineer Premier and a recent problem I've run into is that the lights inside the truck don't automatically go off when the doors close after a certain amount of time. Prior to this like normal the lights would turn off within seconds of the door being closed, but since then they no longer turn off and because of that I think that this is prime cause of the battery not being able to hold a charge. I've narrowed the problem to either being a loose cable or possibly one of the light "chips" (sorry I don't know the correct term for what they are called). Anyone have a better guess of what problem might be and would any have a list as to which chips correspond to what parts of the truck, just so I won't have to play the guessing game. Thanks guys and I really appreciate it in advance.

This can often be controlled by turning off the lights using the dimmer wheel. Turn it all the way down until it clicks off. When you need the lights, turn the wheel back up all the way up until just before it clicks at the top. The interior lights will be on, but will go off after you drive for 10 seconds or so.

I believe this is likely an issue caused by a broken wire (possibly the a ground wire) in the drivers side door boot.
