I had replaced the drivers side half shaft back in the late winter due to a hole in the outer boot and I just recently developed that same type of noise that was indicative of a bad cvc joint. I just crawled under my explorer to change the oil and noticed a lot of oil around my front diff. and further front on the driver's side and noticed that the boot is off the steering rack where the inner tie rod connects. I'm assuming I should just replace the whole thing. My question is, how big of a job is this? It doesn't really look to be that big of a deal but I wanted to see what everyone's opinion on here was. Also, does anyone have an opinion on replacement brand? I see RockAuto has a cardone reman for $113, acdelco reman for $136 or motorcraft for $304.
