Inner Tie Rods Loose? Newbe Question

Hi All, I'm new to this board. I have a stock 98 2WD Sport with 45,000 miles. Recently I have noticed the front end making a popping when going over small bumps. Upon investigating under the vehicle while rocking the front end up and down it seems like the inner tie rod ends are loose and the popping noise is coming from them. Is this possible on a vehicle with this low milage? Any one else have this problem?

I have a '98 Sport 4x4 and have been told the outer left tie rod is going bad. I only have 51,000 mile on it. It is unusual for tie rods to go bad this soon.

I've hardly had it off-road and of all the vehicles I've owned I baby this one the most. Maybe that's what I get for babying it.
