I just got done installing a set of Euro guages in my 99 eddie bauer explorer. Everything works great and looks great but when I start my explorer i get this dinging buzzer just like when you are low on fuel or washer fluid . . the sound from the message center. . .What have I done??? Have I messed something up installing the guages or what?? I checked my dash for warning lights and checked my message center status and everything is ok but i get about 12 dings buzzes from dash upon every start up. please help

The only thing i can think of is you spicied into the wrong power or the ground you have works, its just in a sensitive spot

I spliced into the white wire with black stripe coming from the light switch and I have the ground under the metal plate underneath the stearing wheel. If I have something wrong please feel free to let me know. Thanks

stull buzzing

still got the dings/buzzer at start up. . .please help . . or at least tell me how to remove that buzzer!! driving me nuts
thanks

i unhooked the wires and tied the wires back together going to the light switch and the buzzing still happened. . . .what could i have damaged?

Well, something. I am really not sure at this point. Sorry, that I can't help you out. I wish it was here in front of me So I could see everything.

i have went thru in my head a million times every step i made installing these things.. . i didnt yank any wires or jerk anything with it still attatched and made sure my wires where all connected good and wrapped well and my ground was secured properly and the job went so smooth . . . now this . . .really got my puzzled. . . i just wonder if it is something shorting out and gonna burn any day. . .

What about the three plugs going into the back of the guage cluster? They could be loose or not plugged in all the way.

Could you post a picture of the spliced connection to the white/black stripe wire?

i have checked the three connections even by unplugging them and replugging them back in. . .i will try to get some pics of what I have this weekend and send them to you. . .is their only one white/black wire coming out of the light switch? and could i find another hot wire to hook the gauges to and no go thru my switch since mine has the daytime driving lights which stay on all the time.

You've got two options for powering the guages.

1. You could run a power wire from the battery make sure to install a fuse no more than 12 inches from the battery. Install a switch on the power wire and then connect the power wire from the gauges to the switch and leave the ground where it is.

2. Do the same as above except instead of connecting directly to the battery you can tap into a fuse in the fuse block that get power only when you flip the light switch (You would have to search for this fuse with a volt meter, I don't know which one it is). This would be closer to your current setup, but your guages would only be on when you turn your head lights on.

Does your owners manual say anything about getting getting dings from the message center?

i looked thru my manual and the only thing i can find is to reset the message center so i have done this a million times and it still dings. . .im gonna check it out some more this weeekend. . .

Did you try and disconnect the euro gauges power and ground wires, and then reseting the message center?

You also might want to try one of the other connection methods I mentioned earlier. It could be that the message center is seeing the additional current draw on the lights caused by the guages.

You could also try reseting the computer by disconnecting the battery for I think 15 minuets.

hey bigtigex.

where did you get your dash from and how much are they? close guess.

thanks,

paulie

What do you mean by "dash"? If your talking about the indiglo gauges, I got mine from www.indiglogauges.com for about $80.
