Hi all,
My wife's 03 Explorer instrument panel information center has gone nuts.

Initially, when I found that I could not clear "change oil" using the "info + reset" buttons next to the panel, I knew I needed to ask this forum for help ASAP.

Now the measurement unit shows in km, not miles, including the dang message "oil change required"....

OK, what computer (component) manages the information center and how much do you think it will cost me to repair it (I'll do the change-out)....

I'm expecting to hear the worst, that I have no other way around going to the dealer because he has to transfer the mileage over to the new computer??? uurrrggggg....

Traillover isn't loving this trail....

for the km to miles, if i remember correctly if you press setup then hold reset it will give you the option to change that. that too should be in the manual, but that is what i think it is off the top of my head.

In the fuse box under the hood you can pull #15 for the PCM and instrument cluster to reset it.

Fantastic - I love this forum!!! Pulling the fuse did the trick. I also want to let the other guys that posted know that I had previously followed the User Manual to clear the "change oil required" and km units but couldn't get the information center to correctly respond!!

However, in addition to resetting the information center, I also found that the instructions in the User Manual (03) has a major misprint about what buttons to push to clear the oil setting back to 100%. The manual says to push the "Reset" button after selecting the "Setup" button. I found out (by messing with it) that you have to push the "Setup" button twice to see the message "Press and hold the Reset control for 2 seconds to display If new oil hold reset."

Anyway, you guys ROCK.... It never ceases to amaze me how great this forum is.... Thanks again....

No problem man. Glad you got it fixed. Hop over and poke around in the Modified sub-forum, that's where it really starts to get fun.
