96 Ford Explorer
Hi,

I have a 96 explorer my dash light work perfectly but all the indicators are upside down and not working. I've scanned it at the mechanic but it didn't give any gage errors.

I buyed another cluster that didn't work either.

What can i do next to get it back to work?:yelexp:

Sounds to me like they were standing on their head at the factory when they built your X. If they are not working how are they upside down I am not sure I understand the question?

the fuel gage reads empty whatever you fill in, the temperture gage indicator went over H and lays on the RPM gage, RPM and MPH gage doen't owrk either they reads 0, oil gage went over Hand the meter stayed there, the battery meter stays in low.
Everything was working great until beginning of this year every meter went up and down and than went over their limit, only the dashboard lights are still working.

Maybe you know how to fix this!

just a thought... Ford used to use something called a IVR (intermittent voltage regulator) to control the gauges. basically it took the incoming 12-14 volts and stepped it down to about 9 volts to operate the gauges. if you looked at it using a volt meter, the voltage would appear to pulse. if this thing went bad and the full 12+ volts when to the gauges they all pegged at full high. i don't know that Ford still uses this same technology, but they might be doing something similar, or there may be something's wrong with the alternator's voltage regulator. try disconnecting the alternator and see what the gauges do. also check voltage at the battery with the alternator hooked up. it should read around 13-14 volts, no more.
