Instrument panel problems

I have a 2005 Sport-Trac with the information center in the lower right of the instrument panel. The instruments work sometimes and sometimes they don't. If you bang on the IP it sometimes works. Occasionally I hear a relay chattering on the passenger side of the vehicle but when that happens the radio comes and goes as well as the IP. Could the problms be related? I saw another post in explorer section but the model year and the IP are different. Mostf the time there is no relay chater and th radio is not affected when the IP locks up. I have had the Tach and Speed-o at 2000rpm and 50mph showing while I'm stopped. This situation is very distracting and it tends to really aggravate me any help would be greatly appreciated. I had the same problem and the dealer said I needed a new panel because you can't service it. It has to be replaced. Yeah, right!! Jeff

Yeah they told me the same thing and that it would be somewhere in the $750 price range. I wonder why this has not been a recall item in as much as it is such a safety issue as well as a true records issue. Sure you don't accumulate the miles on the odometer but that s no better than turning one back, which is illegal, and in my state it is a reason to fail the vehicle for its annual inspection. Just venting, thanks.....
