I have a 2000 Xls and i just recently put a cold air intake on it, well homemade sort of. So i have been running this new intake system for 4 days and then the engine light came on. So i cleaned the MAF sensor thinking it was contaminated with air filter oil. Light stayed off for a day then went back on. Cleaned it again thinking i missed part of it. Today i got the car scanned and the code said....P0174 Bank 2 System Too Lean. My intake is a Spectre cone filter sitting on the stock MAF sensor with an adapter, while still using the stock hose that goes to the throttle body. To still use my intake do i need a bigger throttle body? What can i do to not go back to the stock set up?

You likely have a vacuum leak, either in one of the lines you missed when installing the intake, or through the lower intake manifold gaskets. Common problem, relatively inexpensive solution (for a DIY job anyways).

the intake is just basically the cone filter that sitting in the bottom part of the stock air filter box. I didnt take any vacum lines off.

try filling up your gas tank, could be a lack of pressure because of the missing vaccum hose. also try some fuel injector cleanrer, this will get a better flow of gas to your engine.

I can't be of any help here, but can you post pictures of the intake?:D

Charlie, i tried to post pics but they just were to big for the file and i am not an Elite so I dont have the room. I did fill up my tank because I thought of the pressure differences to. To bad i was at work so i couldnt try it when i thought of it(while i was working):( My friend suggested the fuel injector cleaner also. My engine light went on when i was just above empty so i hope me filling it up solved the problem.

Links don't go to any pictures. Try loading them on photobucket or tinypic. Those hosting sites work well.

Photos work fine now, thanks:D:thumbsup:

Hope it wasn't too much trouble...I had been curious how it looked, and what all you had done. Thanks!

no it was not problem and you should do the same to your sport, it is so much better with added horses;)

- i fixed the problem....my truck was almost on E and when i put $40 worth of gas the light has not came back on. The difference in pressures just made it go lean.

I have a somewhat similar setup, it's the stock intake, with a K&N filter, silencer removed. From what I see, it appears to be very similar to what you did, just without using an adapter.

how did you mount the intake cone without the adapter? it may be your turn for the pictures:D

Sure thing..be right back with pictures and edit the link into this post.

Pictures...(after all, I can't ask somebody to take a picture of something if I wouldn't be willing to do the same:))

Don't mind the mud and whatnot that got sprayed up in the engine bay..it's a little dirty now, and these are camera phone pics, so please bear with the photos..

With the stock clamp that was there, I was able to catch the lip of the filter so it holds fine. I thought about trying to do something else to get better flow, but haven't bothered as of yet.

Also, from photobucket, if you want you can link the pictures here so they display, instead of the links, by copying the one labeled "IMG code" instead of the "Direct link" -- FYI. It's handy, and saves people from having to click links. Not really a big deal in a case like this, but if you are doing something with more photos, describing steps on you you did something ect. it really becomes handy.

ya thanks for the image advice, your intake looks sweet, the homemade intakes are the way to go and a great way to save money;)

yeah, i agree, endedd up gettting mine done for $25:D
