I always put a snorkel on my rigs, but this time I'm planning on a hood mounted, backwards ram induction hood scoop air intake like this one.

I've removed the front facing water sucking intake tube that mounts to the core support.
That tube has an aluminum tube the connects what looked like the exhaust manifold (I couldn't see fully). There is also a vacuum line that feeds back to the top of the airbox and what looks like a vacuum port.

I plugged the vacuum line. It runs fine, but what is the aluminum pipe and port for?

I'm guessing it's there to help with cold starts.

TIA

Funny you ask this- there's a thread on this exact subject in the stock First Gen forum. It's a duct to heat the air in the filter box while the vehicle warms up. Check the thread for the correct nomenclature

I did search but couldn't find it

Thanks, I'll keep it to one side until we get -20 next February ;)
