Interior lamps

I just purchased a 1996 Explorer XLT with 4wd. It needed a new exterior handle on it and I learned on this forum with pictures how to do it (thanks guys). Now I have another problem, the interior lamps come on with all the doors except for the drivers door. I cant see any little button switches that get activated from the doors and I wonder what makes them come on? By the way, the drivers door is the one I put the new exterior handle on, I dont know if that has anything to do with it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

There's a wire connected to the latch mechanism inside the door that triggers the light. I bet something in the latch is corroded or stuck.
