Hi all,
just bought a 2000 Explorer Sports and I have 2 interior questions.
On the console just in front of the arm rest, this is an opening and I can see right inside of the console. Almost like there should be an emergency brake handle coming out. Its kind of like a slot opening. Am I missing a piece of trim that goes there????

(edited) Just found out its for Tissues???????

Also, I am looking for a piece of trim that goes in the cargo area. It goes on the right quarter panel in the back and I believe a little net goes in there…

The interior is grey in color…

Any help with one or both of the above questions is very much appreciated…

Thanks,
daveg

Got a pic? I think i know what your talking about. I have a 2000 sport and mine had a cubby that was made form hard plastic in the rear right quarter. Is yours just missing?

No Pic, sorry.
Yes you are right. I have the "plastic bucket" but its not held in there with anything (its lose). I had a 94 sport and I beleive a net goes there and that helps hold that "bucket" in place.

The Gen 1 and early gen II's have this:

There is a rim around the cubby section to hold it in, these are on the backside:

The later Gen II's have this, it just has push through clips:

Wow!!! Thanks for the Pics. I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what went there... I know my 94 sport had the string type net.

Since its a 2000 I am assuming it should have the string net?

Will the "plastic net" fit in my 2000?

In your opinion, should I replace it with the string net or the "plastic" net (assuming it will fit)? It looks like after a while the string net becomes out of shape and crappy.

I figure since I need to buy something I would like to purchase the better option

Either one will fit in there, but the 2000 came with the plastic one, not the net one.

I would get a plastic one if it was me. I may still have the one from my truck since I took it out to put in a subwoofer/factory grille.

It is the lighter gray, not the darker gray- which gray do you have?

Hmmm Great question. I didn’t even realize there were 2 grays. I do have the interior code and I can try and find out. I will let you know, thanks for everything!!!!

OK, so my Trim code is FT which stands for Leather / Dark Graphite.
I also see that for my year, there is only one Gray so I am not sure about the light versus Dark Gray....
How much are you looking to sell it for?

I now realize that I don't have the dark graphite cubby, as I sent that wth my old 2000 when I took out the sub/grille to send down to Eric when I sold it. :(

I can probably get one for you on one of my junkyard trips though...

For anyone looking in, and for bar trivia... There were 2 in 2000- Medium Graphite, and Dark Graphite- here is a Medium Graphite armrest pad on a Dark Graphite center console:
