Well my friend Rolled his 96 xlt sunday night, and we got it back yesterday (tuesday). I got the leather seats from him, the "computer" from the headliner that tells you the temp and direction i believe? I am not putting in the overhead console till I can get the sensor for outside. I have a 94xlt with manual cloth seats and today I started the transformation I put in the 2 rear seats only, because I did not want to struggle with the electric in the 95degree sunlight!

well enough chit chat here they are!

that would be a nice upgrade from the stock seats.

Looks good. Sorry to hear about your buddy's rollover, but good to hear you got an OHC and some leather seats. :D

Does anyone know the name of the sensor that I need to make the ohc functional? I have the wiring that went out to the fender but it stops there because i couldnt get the fender off due to its condition and the limited amount of time we had to get his truck out of the driveway.

overhead console temp. sensor

it's located on the drivers side at the bottom of the radiator between the grille and radiator

Ok I have a quick question about the power seats. Does anyone know if when I pull pu the rug if the harnesses are going to be there for power seats? Im going from manual to power seats and I need to know what wirering Im going to have to be doing to make them work. Any help is much apreciated , Im hoping it will be like other cars I have worked on that the wires are run just left unpluged.

I believe the wires for power seats are there, like you said. :)

Ok well I ripped out the front seats and pulled back the carpet and there was no wire harness for the seats =(. Now onto my next question, If i cut the clip of the chair wires what would I need to do to get power to the motors? and what wires (colors) do what and where would I run them to? Oh there were no wires in the floor but there was the cut in the rug for the wires, go figure.

Thanks in advance for any help everyone I apreciate it

you should only need a power wire and a ground wire. There may be more there if the seats had the memory option but there will be other things you will need to get that to work. if you are just trying to get the 6-way power going you only need the 2 wires.

They are not memory seats, so with the power and the ground what should I do? Im not sure its safe to run them how I want to (jury rigged) ground to the body and power straight to the fuse box and wrap the wire around the fuse and push it into the slot where the fuse would go for power seats?or should I just hook it up to another wire somewhere?

check your auto parts store in the electrical section (its ok to ask for help too). There should be something there you can use to add a circuit to the fuse box. There may also be un-used fuse slots that you could use. Grounding to the body should be fine just make sure you have a good connection when you do it. I also found that a quick connect will make your life easier when you have to remove and install the seats. I got some 2-wire connects from radio shack that were intended for RC's. Worked like a charm, but anything that would be a quick connect should work. Just make sure the wire gauge is similiar to what is in the seats already so as to not fry something.

Ok thanks for the help I will try to complete the install today and if I get it done
I will post up pics of the install and the final product.

Cut out as much of the seat wiring from the 96 vehicle, including the connectors. The factory ground wires along the sill plate go to the kick panel ground bolt. Cut the 96 ground wires sll the way to that bolt, thus you won't have to fabricate any ground wires.

Get as much of the power wires as possible also. I don't recall if they go to an existing circuit along the kick panel area. It may, check both vehicles along the driver's side under the rug. If the wiring color matches in both vehicles, you may be able to connect(strip, crimp, solder, seal, tape) the 96 wires to the same colored 94 wires. Good luck,

Thanks for the tips, the seats are in! and are so much more comfortable I have to say. I just ran the wiring from the (ground-batter), and power from a 60amp fuse I added in the distributer box where if I had power seats the fuse would have been. I have to take pics and post them up tomorrow for everyone to see lol.

here they are!

Looks really good! I bet it will be reallly nice. The only thing that i would suggest to do is to see if the console from your friend's X will fit in yours. I would definitley go for the matching console if i were you. Glad everything wiring wise worked out for you.

the center console was a bust belive me i looked at that before the seats lol i hate this console! but the console was cracked cause his brother ripped the ps2 out of it before the tow truck driver could get to it, unfortunatly the tow truck driver stole his pioneer dvd 7 inch display radio

yeah..looks good..but you should look into getting a 95-96 tan console to match(95-96 was the only years for that darker saddle tan color)

Im thinking about having the armrest coverd in leather to ethier match the seats or in black leather because i am going to be painting all my door handles black once I replace the passanger door handle thats broken. Im not sure how the black leather would look on the arm rest though, anyone have any suggestion?
