After having intermittant issues with my powers windows working one day and not the next, or sometimes only the driver's windows working, I found several good leads in here pointing to the Accy. Delay Relay.

I replaced said relay for $10.21 (NAPA) and all power window problems seem to be fixed.

The relay location on my 95 XLT is up under the dash to the right of the steering column next to the radio. There is a block there housing several relay modules that has a black plastic cover. The Accy. Delay Relay is the only square module and the others are rectangle-shaped. Not too hard to reach if you twist your neck a little.

My thanks to all who posted their similar problems.

Sounds great.

So, all your windows at same time would not work, correct? Not just This window here, that window there?

I ask due to my passenger rear window works when it wants to, so I never use it. All other windows work perfectly accept that one.

Happy for you none the less.

Either none of them would work or, sometimes, only the driver's. Also, the passengers window switches would not work, but drivers panel would work all okay. It was really weird and occasional. When I first stared the car, no windows worked, but after driving 10 minutes they would suddenly be okay... sometimes.

Sounds like you may also consider a bad/broken wire on that rear passenger. Best of luck.

Snagglepus, What relay and where was it, that you replaced to fix your random window problem?

Mr Snagglepus, You are wonderful. I will let you know if this fixes the problem.

Does anyone know if the relay location is different for a '98 Explorer??

MR Snagglepus. Your advice was right on. Thanks my friend

Same problem, fixed it. The relay wouldn't actuate until I smacked it on the table. Works great now. Gonna order a new foab-14b192-aa relay.

Thanks, you guys are the best.

I would like to thank you. Your suggestion to change the relay under the dash on my 96 xlt, 5.0 was exactly what I needed to do. I have spent years dealing with my windows! They either all worked or not at all. I had pulled the door cards, looked for damaged wiring in the door jamb only to learn all I had to do was replace a freaking relay! It couldn't have been much easier. I took the old one with me to AutoZone and made sure the new old was a match. I was thinking on my way home how nice it will be to confidently use my windows. I plugged that relay in and Bada Boom, it worked! Also there is indeed a diagram showing the relays in the owners manual on page 391. I had not seen that little box with the relays before, but I won't forget it.
Thanks again, I couldn't be more pleased with your help.
Now if I could just get my hands on the defective bank 1, sensor 1, O2 sensor!

I'll be darned... I think they removed that diagram from latter model years' manuals, or at least I never saw it in a manual. One hint that it's the relay instead of a power or ground wire to the door panel switches, is the accessory delay relay controls more than just windows (at least in later model years it does) so more features would be inoperable than just windows. I forget which (besides some interior lights maybe?) but once you find them, can trace that on a wiring diagram.

Do you mean the O2 sensor is hard to access on the vehicle, or you can't find a source to buy a replacement?

There are special lamps for when driving through trailer parks?
