- 2017 Explorer Limited
Hi All!
Just purchased a used 2017 Explorer Limited. I'm a travel nurse who is relatively handy, love my Golden Retriever and Black Lab Mix pups and the outdoors. Currently I'm in the Boston area, but getting ready to move again for work and will be taking the Explorer on its first of surely many extended road trips in December when I drive to Mammoth Lakes, CA where I usually go in the winter.
In order to make more of an PIU rear platform for my two large dogs when I travel, I removed the rear seats, using some very useful information regarding stability and structural integrity which I found on this forum. (Haven't finished the DIY platform and also planning to get the rear window guards they use on those vehicles, which allows the pups to enjoy the windows down without jumping out.)
I decided to join the forum after that project ended so well, in hopes of more to come. Pics included because who doesn't love dogs and a project update. (Black is Kenai who I picked up on assignment in Alaska, White is Charlie, a Nevadan.)
