I've had a 97 explorer XLT for about 5 years now, but I'm new to this forum and this is my first of many posts/threads.
Here's my most immediate problem:
When I press up/down for the driver's window, the window works and the light on the door dims. Same for the rear driver's side window. But when I try to roll up/down on the front passenger and rear passenger window, nothing happens and the light on the door doesn't dim (This is all being done on the master switch). It has to be a bad master window switch right?

Do the passenger windows roll up/down from the switches on their respective doors? If yes, then the motors, etc are OK and the problem is on the drivers side. Since the switch didn't fix it, most likely you have some broken wires in the drivers door wiring bundle. Do a search to look for threads that deal with opening the bundle and replacing wires.

That was it! I found two cut wires in the rubber boot. I wired them back together. Now both windows work.
