Sounds like an owner saying "Coach xxxxxxx is our guy- we're 100% behind him..." one week before they fire him. I think Ford has committed a crapload of cash to toss at Lincoln, and will wait for that to either create some reimbursement, or use it as a write-off and close them down.

You can't design a car that looks good from the front but then goes south as you move to the back, and turns into the love child of an orgy including a 1971 AMX Javelin for the back, a 2011 Avalon for those c-pillars, and a Ron- Jeremy-ish 1986 Capri RS for that bubblicious rear window. Come on, guys...

Not even close, stick a fork in it, it's done. Sorry, but Lincoln perception isn't even in the same galaxy as Cadillac perception let alone ballpark. It doesn't matter how good the cars are, it's about perception, and Lincoln is toast.

And does anyone in the leadership at Lincoln think by changing from "Lincoln" to the "Lincoln Motor Company" makes people that wouldn't otherwise look at Lincoln think "Lincoln Motor Company? Holy s***, who is that!? I need to go look at these cars!"

Not happening.

Looks like a mopar

It looks like the big three American car companies are constantly down sizing while the foreign manufacturers are getting all of the business. The foreign companies are slowly taking over. They even have manufacturing plants in the USA. The big three get their parts from over seas.

Ford is the mainstream brand, they NEED an upscale luxury brand, for now Lincoln is it. Sure, they can ax the Lincoln brand, but they will need some other upscale brand name to replace it. The Japanese companies caught on to this long ago, which is why there is Lexus (Toyota), Acura (Honda), Infiniti (Nissan), etc. etc. If Ford throws away the Lincoln lineup and name and has no other brand, they better have a fantastic plan to only sell budget to mid-priced vehicles under the Ford brand. I doubt there is any chance of Ford killing off Lincoln as long as GM has Cadillac.
