I just tried to start my Explorer and apparently I did something at the wrong time. I think I activated the anti-theft system. The 'theft' light just rapidly blinks. Then after I few minutes, when I try to start it again, I can't get the starter to turn over. What have I done and how do I fix it? I have only had this Explorer for a few months and bought it without the book. I am so frustrated.

Thanks,

If you are using a coded key it should start. If it makes a clicking sound your battery may be low.

The manual for the 2002 sayd this "If a problem occurs with the SecuriLocky system, the indicator will flash rapidly or glow steadily when the ignition is in the ON position. If this occurs, the vehicle should be taken to an authorized dealer for service."

oh and BTW you can find a manual for the 2002 here https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/SUV/Explorer.asp

Close the doors and lock them with the remote or the power door lock button. Unlock the driver's door with the key then try to start the engine. If that doesn't work try again, but unlock with the remote.

Used to get a lot of people's cars not starting at the store where I used to work at because they would somehow set off the anti-theft system. One of the above always got them going again though.

It turned out to be the battery.

Thanks for help,
