Ok is this strange, a coincidence or even possible.

(My OD light has been flashing on and off for the past month)

3 days ago i decided to replace all the burnt out bulbs in my instrument panel found out that 4 out of the 5 big ones where burnt out. Anyway here is the strange part. Ever since replacing them all and putting it all back together my OD light now longer flashes and the transmission is running as smooth as new. Is this possible? Or just a strange coincidence. Well no matter what I’m stoked that all is working.

Just thought i would let you know. As this my be a solution to some strange trans issues, i wonder how many people have paid to have theirs overhauled when all you needed was a bulb (that is if its really that i personally find it quit hard to believe).

I find it hard to believe replacing the bulbs caused the tranny to function better, but it is possible there was an interaction between the main bulbs and the warning lamp.

Tranny...Fluke....

If you disconnected the battery to remove the bulbs, maybe there where some codes stored in the computer and you erased them.

It started flashing on and off again over the weekend. Bummer.

Doesnt sound good:(

I think my trans is slipping as when I’m diving on the highway at 75mph it starts of at round 2400 RPM and sometimes goes up to 2800 RPM then about 30 second. After it does that the light starts flashing (this seems to only happen on the Highway) but not always i.e. this morning it didn’t flash at all. Yesterday i managed to avoid the flashing light by putting it in overdrive as soon as i notice the change in RPM and then back to normal 10 seconds after. This seemed to help. I’m really confused as to the problem because half the time its runs smooth and like new and then it gets a code. The only two things i have noticed it the difference in RPM and a Squeaking sound when the Trans is engaged at a stand still as soon as i press the accelerator the noise goes away. Anyway a friend of mine has a buddy who works at a ford dealer so he is going to arrange a code reading session.

Also why is it the when i leave the car sit for more than 1 or 2 hours the light stops flashing after 1 mile when i leave again.

Man i miss the good old mechanical equipment (before electronics)
