is tranny dead

Hi guys:

My 94 xlt g cyl auto has a tranny problem:

Going up hill or in the morning when I shift drive the tranny wont engage.

HELP, what can it be?

check the fluid first

Check the fluid level, should be between the marks when hot.

If the fluid is ok and the trans has some miles probably needs the bands checked and/or replaced
