I am going to upgrade to a Jerry can for gas storage, and am wondering if people use metal or plastic cans to carry extra fuel.

Currently, I use a Blitz plastic can, but I feel the container is too thin and will not hold up to long-term use in a vehicle. Also, while in Arizona, the can experienced major expansion and contraction with the overnight weather changes. A jerry can is much more suited to handle the pressure changes.

Here is one place I found that has both metal and plastic cans: http://www.generatorjoe.net/subcatmfgprod.asp?0=214&1=215&2=-1

Any opinions appreciated.

Go with metal if it is going to see alot of sunlight...plastic breaks down in the sun....

Our Blitz cans (we have like five 5 gallon cans) that always inflate in the heat. We have to let the pressure out in fear of it blowing up. We've had them for a few years, so I think they're plenty strong enough, but the expansion in heat could be bad.
