First off, this truck was well built before i ever got it. Most of the work was done by the PO
So to all those who say "Built not Bought", you can have that saying, as this thing is freaking amazing and I "bought, not built" it.
I bought the truck in 2011 to have a more trail rig as the plans for D-Ranged are more for expedition style, daily driver stuff.
When i bought the truck, i loved how Dan kept the body, all while building an extremely capable rig that seats 5 and has AC. I seen an explorer on here that was rattle-canned desert tan paint job, and loved it, so that's what i decided on going with. Then i decided to step it up a notch... Why not dedicate it to the men and women serving this great nation?? So that is what the theme as been.
here are some action shots from the previous owner...
Here is a normal shot.
Plans in the beginning... Full cage, trusses, decorations, hydro assist, maybe more
As of now, this is what all I've done
* Hydro Assist
* new bumpers
* little interior stuff
* rock rings
* manual transfer case in the rear
* added a lot more dents. A lot more.
Goals once I get back to Cali are to get a little more serious with coilovers, possibly links out back, 9" front axle, full cage.
So why name it SGT Ex rather than leaving it looking like a somewhat stock explorer?
It is a tribute to all our active, veteran, and fallen service members, and also to those who risk their lives for everyone else's freedom. I also want to pay tribute to those non-military folk that risk their lives daily, but haven't decided on how to do that. The sides and roof get drug on too much stuff, so it will likely have to be something inside the cab.
