Jrgaylor's 1 Ton BroncoII

While looking for a possible transfer case for my early bronco project I came across this Bronco II on craigslist. I had meet the owner of it back 12 years or so ago from a diffrent forum and had been on a couple of runs with him.
I am sure a few of you will know this BroncoII when you see a picture of it.

The first part of this post will how the BroncoII was when I got it and how the PO did a great job on so many things.

Then I will go into what I have done since purchase to have it fit my needs.

Nice rig man.

What I have done so far.
Installed a non flex mechanical cooling fan.
Installed new silver fox valve body in the AOD. I can now lock out overdrive and have 1,2,3 shifting or 1,2,3/4 pattern.
I have a Yukon zip locker waiting to go in the front.
New heater core
Rebuilt the alternator (the warn air compressor can draw 120 amps)
I had to remove the stereo stuff and put seats back in the back again.
I am time poor working 50+ hours a week and 2 little ones running around the house

Impressive! :)

More pics would be good. :D

Well it was not broke but some upgrades are currently in the works

37 X12.5-16 bias crawlies on 32 bolt bead locks
HP D60 front with thick 5.13 yukon gears
HD D60 rear with thick 5.13 Yukon gears disc brakes
Yukon 35 spline axles front and rear
ARB airlockers front and rear
Cage radius arms

The 5.0 is getting replaced by a HO 5.0
Exterior paint is getting refreshed

I will stretch the wheelbase a little in the process.
I need to fabricate a interior cage that allows access to the rear seating area from the front and the fabrication of plattform for 3 car seats to be strapped in.

The engine and shoes that are going in

I got the rear 60 regeared and ARB installed need to cut down the new 35 spline shafts for length. The ORI struts for the front I ordered are 5-7 weeks out so I am going to put the this bronco project on hold untill later to work on other projects.

Yes, Moab 2016 unless I somehow find a lot of spare time then it will turn into a 72 Bronco

The 5.0 is ready to go in, has the explorer v-8 front dress on. the explorer front dress is about 3/4" shorter than the mustang front dress and helps with fan to radiator clearance and allows you to use the explorer fan and fan clutch which the OEM stuff to use to keep things cool.

I also got my struts for the front, the rear dana 60 has been regeared and ARB installed awaiting to be installed in the vehicle.

Finally got this thing fired up! Need to make a new fan shroud as the explorer 5.0 has a larger fan than what I was running. As you can see in the picture I have plenty of space (2.5") between the fan and radiator. After the shroud is in I will bundle the wires and tiddy up the engine compartment.
I retained the Saginaw power steering pump and deleted the AC pump.

Front Dana 60 is ready to be disassembled hoping have time to get to it this weekend.
Then it will be time to build the engine cage for the struts
