Jumping video from this weekend.

I thought some of you may be interested in some video we took from a trip this weekend. There 2 shots of me jumping my Exploder at the begining. I know, they're small compared to the others but my rear suspension isn't ready for big air yet. Hopefully in a month or two I'll be going big. If you've got a fast connection watch the compilation, It's pretty cool. If you're on dial up watch the individual clips. My Explorer jumping are under the "Chris" clips. Also MAKE SURE to watch the F150 jump, it's blurry but you can tell it's huge. Just guessing that jump probably going to cost him $3000 to fix a trashed front suspension, motor mounts, bent frame, replace air bags that went off, and all the other stuff that wasn't obvious by eye.

Have you not seen the "Do NOT jump your truck!" thread? You will end up with carnage like the F150 if you go any higher
Not to sound like a downer or any thing, and the videos do look cool, but $3000 for 10 seconds of thrills isn't worth it. You could use 3 grand for a lot of modifications.......

Exactly. For example:

Deep water crossings are dangerous in the fact they can destroy vehicles in a minute or less, and are very high risk.

You don't see may people on here with pictures of deep water crossings. Why not? Most people won't dare as they know the risks. They know that 1 minute in deep water could hydrolock their motor, or worse sweep the truck away in a current.

If you drove in deep water knowing your intake was at water level, it would be the same as jumping a truck knowing damn well something is gonna break......

Crankcase, I see your point, but there are a lot of things that make what Khris was doing different from the the post you mentioned or deep water crossings. First of all, if my memory serves me correctly, the Explorer in that thread was a newer model (IFS) and was only lifted by a torsion twist, perhaps spindles also, I can't remember. Either way, if you compare that to the list of modifications Khris has done to his suspension its like comparing apples and oranges. That Explorer was probalby running near stock shocks and had maybe 5" of travel. Khris has at least 14" I'm guessing, with race or semi race shocks. Also the nature of the TTB is just more rugged than that of the IFS. Finally I believe that the guy in that post caught a lot of air, accidently, more than Khris had probably. All of this combined caused the damage to that Explorer that would most like not happen to Khris' or anyone else with a built suspension. My point isn't to argue, just to point out that in this case Khris wasn't being as irresponsible as you think and that you can build a truck to handle what he was doing. Just like you can build one to handle deep water crossings.

Point well taken but you have to understand what I've done to my Explorer, I'd be interested in view the other jumping thread!!! I cycled my front suspension at 15-1/4" of travel at the hub from full droop to full compression in the bumpstop. As far as building up, I've already broke most the stuff you would think of and replaced it with VERY heavy duty stuff, your $3000 estimate is low, I've got closer to $4000 in the front alone and over $1200 in the rear (which is what's holding me back) those prices are for parts alone, I did all the install and most of the fab work and get most shocks at cost so the price could be a lot higher. I'm running full blown race shocks up front with a hydraulic bumpstop, not that little rubber block. Look at the pics in my profile on the web page to see what I've done. The TTB up front has been fully boxed in the rear and plated, al tig welded too. I don't have any drop brackets to bend or crack the frame with either. The rear end is running a fully built race leaf pack for the weight of my vehicle and racing shocks too. The rear is actually what's holding me back, I need to remount the shocks and get bumpstops back there too. If you notice I'm not going more then a foot off the ground, it's cause my rear end bottomed at much more so I didn't do it. The front end never came close to even bottoming on that jump. Honestly my bigest worry is rolling the thing cause I don't have the cage built, yet.... Damn, this turned long sorry about that, just wanted to give you some insight as to what I did to build it to handle that stuff.
