Ya`ll I may have entered this before but I want to pass along something I learned last year about my 2006 Ranger EDGE (or however you spell it). One day I was driving along. Stopped to get gas or something. When I restarted my pickup, when I turned my lights on the wipers started. Weird but I still got to work on time so it was just an inconvenience. Then when I went home it wasn`t acting up so I thought that was then end of my trouble. NAWP! A month or so ago I filled my tank at a gas station and when I tried to start, no luck! I waited for about 20 minutes and then it started again.

A couple of days ago, I filled up again and drove straight home so I didn`t use much gas and when I tried to crank her up the next day no go! Dang It!

Well when I had the wiper-light confusion I tried a different method of repair to fix that issue last year. I turned my ignition key on then disconnected the ground from my battery. In effect I cold booted the computer I think. Anyway, it cured my wiper-light problem and today it cured my no-start after fill-up problem. Now I keep an 8mm wrench in the ride to cold boot the computer for the next time it decides to go on the blink.

I guess I could go out and buy a new computer but why? It works once it is booted (so far) and until I can find out more about my problem I don`t have any other avenue. Anyway, a for what it`s worth ............

get a good heavy duty battery disconnect , wire it in, and done,
no wrenches,
