Just ordered an electric fan... Black Magic, wooooooo! J/K. This is a Lincoln Mark VIII fan and was used in another X so I get everything needed to wire it up! I'm looking forward to taking strain off the engine and am very interested to find out if these fans are as powerful as everyone says. He's located in WA so it should be here this week.

hey there... I'm not sure how it will effect yours, but my boss where I work has a 98 F 150 with a v6.. he put an electric cooling fan on and he said it had a lot more snap... good luck :)

Cool, let us know what you think of it :)

I'm new to the X.. so, can someone explain this to me? New fan, I'm guessing for the cooling system.. why would the stock one put a strain on the engine?

Because the OEM fan and clutch assembly wgts 8-10 lbs, not to mention the the drag induced by the cutch itself.
Just less your engine needs to drive, less work= more H.P

Ohhh.. gotcha.

I'm going to show my newbie side, but I haven't really looked under the hood. But, I remember working on my friends 302 Mustang, it's got that metal fan that bolts onto the engine.. my old car (Dodge Stealth) had electric fans. I just assumed all cars had electric fans.

So how would one go about installing an electric fan?

I put one on mine and I noticed a bit more snap too. I'm glad I did it.

Electric fan is a mod I should/need to do. I think the fan/fan clutch bolt is 1 7/16" (or is it 1 7/32"?) but I'm not 100% sure about that. At any rate you'll need a long wrench and strap wrench to get the stock fan loose. Or, you can use the "Ford Fan Clutch Removal Kit". But you know all of that, already. hehehe.
