2012 Ford Explorer XLT
Hi All!

We are now the proud owners of a 2012 Ford Explorer (White Platinum Tri Coat). When we saw the new redesign last year it was pretty much the only SUV we considered when my wife's car was paid off.

We did take a few other competitors for a test drive (even our employer, Honda), and nothing compared to the price / options featured on our new Ford.

Our new Explorer came with the 20" wheel option as well as Equipment Group 202A. My wife is tiny (5'), so the backup camera will be a great help to her. :)

Now that I have it I want to start adding new equipment. I've already inquired about an antenna replacement (from visualgarage.com), as well as a few other options (based on my wife's stature, I'm guessing DeeZee running boards are in my future).

By the way, if you're in the Barrie, ON area and looking for a new Explorer, I would highly recommend Douglas Ford. Speak to Dave E. and he will take care of you - we received awesome service from him.

Looking forward to driving it!

Brian.

I too have a 12 in the same color on a Ltd. Going on 5000 miles and loving it. Best of luck and congratulations.

Helllo Guys,

I am also thinking of going for the White Tri Met colour for my 2012 XLT FWD. Visually does this colour look different than the other white ( Psuede white i guess ) which is available for this model year. Just wondering whether it makes sense to pay a premium of $ 500 for this paint ?

there is a difference and for me, i would not get the standard white. i have the Tri coat white now in my Buick and love it. My Ex will come the same way..

Brian- just fyi, those that have gotten the shark fin antenna love the look, but have suffered reduced radio reception with it, if that would be important to you...

I think it would be fair to say 'some' have reported reception issues, but from the number of positive comments, I think that is a relatively rare occurrence. BUT.... having said that, there is the chance you might have that problem.

Here is what folks in the forum have posted:

True- I think in my mind I intended to say "some" but my too-fat fingers somehow didn't convey that... :)
