I was just wondering why just about everyone on these forums lifts their trucks with big huge freaking tires and springs and everything. Personally I like the look that is lowered a little bit with 22" wheels that are chrome and shiney with a nice paint job and a great system. So please inform me. Dont get me wrong, lifting is cool. It just seems like EVERYONE lifts and no one drops. Just wondering?

Thanks

Most people that lift their trucks aren't ONLY interested in looks. They serve a purpose also.

The "purpose"...whats the "purpose"?

To go offroading! To tackle terrain that no normal vehicle is going to. To go on rootin' trips with friends and camp out, shootin the **** and have cold beverages. To go have fun where no stock rig is going to take you.

Some people have ways, some people do not have ways, some go up, some go down:)
Is the world as we know it.
You got streeters, you got offroaders on this site, someting for everyone
Enjoy

I would venture to say a lot of members are stock or slightly modified. There are more lifted Xs than lowered ones, but each has their place.. I personally fined it much harder to go rock crawling in a lowered X with 22" in rims... :p

Well i dont have to worry about that since i think rock climbing is for people, not for explorers to roll down a hill and cause more damage than imaginable

So, did you start this thread to start a "offroad vs street" argument?

I am "just wondering" why you really started this thread.

I ran over a one inch rock on the freeway this morning, was quite an experiance.
actually sort of spooky :D I think I killed that poor rock or at the least it got damaged

Sorry, didnt mean to start an argument, i was just curious and it got all twisted up and made to big. I really dont see a problem with lifting, i was just curious if there is just something i didnt see, or if it takes a certain someone to want to lift, or lower their truck, lets all be happy we own explorers, and be merry!

Going faster on streets would probably do more damage when you hit something, then when lifted trucks roll over on the trial.

Had to state my opinion, Its probably going to get ugly pretty soon so lets try to keep it a little nice. ;)

****tails, anyone:)

yeah, thats true. I cant go fast over railroad tracks, which does suck

4 wheel drive lifted=cool
4 wheel drive lowered=waste of money
2 wheel drive lowered=cool

What do most people have? Might be the answer to your question.

Lowering serves a purpose as well. Not only for looks, but it improves handling in most cases. I think the real thing here is that most people who buy a 5000lbs. truck aren't really looking for handling. You'll find much more lowered cars than trucks. I'm not saying either one is right, but if handling is your gig a truck isn't the best platform for it.

I lowered my old Maxima and the look and handling increased exponentially. I would not do it on my truck though. If anything I might add some no loss handling mods like anti-sway bars.

Everyone has their own reasons.

I got a 4x4 because my work responsibilities require me to be at our plant no matter what the weather, and because we do occasionally get enough snow to make it impossible for my Mustang to get around (found that out last January). As rarely as I use 4x4, it might seem a waste, but around here 4x4 and 4x2 Explorers are priced about the same, so I didn't have much to lose. I didn't think about lowering mine until I started visiting here. One look at Black Magic's truck, and I was hooked. So, yeah, I'm lowering my 4x4, but only a little. I have no plans to take mine very far, as it's my daily driver. Of course, I used to say that about my Mustang... :D

Regards,
John.
