Are there any makes available that will fit the First Gens'?

If not what would you recommend as the second(First?) best air filter i can buy.

Is their much difference between this KKM and a K&N quality-wise? Does it get the job done in your opinion? Will i stop asking so many questions?

I am happy with the set up I notice a better throttle responce. It looks to be the same as the K&M. But this set up is for the first gen X's.

K&N doesn't make a bolt-on kit, but the KKM is an ok kit for the price, and there seems to be a consensus that S&B filters (which KKM uses) are slightly higher quality and filter slightly better.

You can also build your own cold air intake by just buying the aluminum MAF housing adapter (they do sell cheaper steel ones too, but pay a few bucks more for alloy), then buying the universal cone filters with the correct 4" opening. Auto parts stores tend to sell the K&N version for about $40 + tax, the adapter is usually $10-30 depending on what you get, so $50-80 complete. The KKM kit is "better" in some ways since you just get everything you need in one shot, plus it uses the newer S&B filter that has an angle to clear the fuse box. I think it's also great to support those who make such performance upgrades for our vehicles, when they stop selling so well they might stop making them, so every time someone buys it helps everyone else down the road who might want one.

Holy jumping jahosaphats, you covered every corner to where i couldn't possibly ask a question more. Metal quality, cost of building yourself, supporting your fellow man through supporting America's birthchild Capitalism, My mind has been enlightened, you are a truely a gentleman and a scholar. If your not a salesman or a politician, may i consider you reassess your career path? (Please do not take this as cynical sarcasim by the way, i really do admire your answer[i'm all jacked up on boosters from Naked juices right now{keep your potassium levels up people, it does wonders for your mood\alirght i'm done/}]).

And thank you to Ageman as well for pointing me in the right direction.

$25 for sepctre air filter
$30 for 5.0 MAF sensor from junkyard cougar (has 4.0 electronics on 5.0 housing)
$11 90* elbow
$ 6 for silicone couplers

the main part of the tube I got for free, it's from a 90-93 integra, ex was going to throw away so I kept it... it came with a silicone coupler.

$72 total.

Just when i thought i made up my mind, that looks very clean Cribb. Although i'll probably end up going the kit way for the sake up time saving, (only have a couple hours in between shifts), if i were to have more time i'd definetly get working on this, self made mods like this are why working on one's car is so addicting, rewarding, and simply fasinating.

There should be a sticky for Air Intakes on here, both Cribb's craftsmanship, and links to recommended intakes for the future peruser. Mods?

There is.its at the top of the page.don't run a 5.0 maf though, many people have and say it s fine but they have never had it tested.i run one also and know for a fact it messes up the computer, not to an unsafe limit but definitely messes it up.if you want a larger maf the only proper way to do it is to get a 76mm c&l and have them calibrate it to the size of injectors you have and computer code.i run a ifab

Save your $. Just buy a 3" MAS adapter off eBay & pick a filter to fit it. That's all your going to need. And don't kid yourself. It's not going to do a whole lot either.
And BTW k&n kits are garbage in most applications.

K&N panel filters are garbage.

K&N kits are just as good as any other kit of the type, just like the KKM, not that any of that stuff is really much good for much.
