2011 Ford Explorer
Hello all! Thanks for the add!
Question, I've got a 2011 Ford Explorer. My remote start and keyless entry stopped working altogether. When we first got the car you had to be right up on it for it to start the car or unlock the doors. Over time it gradually got worse and then just stopped all together. I purchased a brand new key fob from Ford and they told me they could not program it. The Explorer won't even recognize the key anymore. So I have to use that little glove box trick to even use the vehicle. Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be the issue? Ford charged me 200 bucks for key and failed attempt to program. Could it possibly be the antenna or the module itself? Is it as easy as buying those components and swapping them out. Then having the new keys program to it? Thanks in advance to whomever responds!!!

Welcome to the Forum.
If the distance decrease over time, I doubt it would be the antenna. The remote start should be in and around the 300' range. Do you have 2 keyfobs and have the batteries in the fobs been replaced? By using the "glove box trick" I'm guessing you mean the slot in the center console.
If you have 2 fobs, you should be able to program another one yourself as mentioned in the Owner's Manual. When you try to start the vehicle do you get a 'No Key Detected' notification?
Do you have anything plugged into the USB or power ports?

I do get the key fob not detected screen pop up. I do do have 2 fobs and both brand new with Energizer batteries. I mentioned antenna because I literally had to be right up on the car for it to start. I don't think I mentioned it but NOTHING is working fob related. Door locks, trunk, remote start. Nothing.

I don't know if it could be an issue with the BCM (Body Control Module) since one of the items you mentioned such as remote keyless entry is part of what it controls among many others. Are you able to use the Securicode keyless entry pad? Do you have anything plugged into the USB or power ports? That can sometimes affect the remote start.
