Keyless Keypad malfunction

My 1999 Sport Explorer has a keyless keypad which only partly functions. The 'lock' door function works, but the factory code or my personal code have no effect. Not all the keys light up (1-2 and 8-9 do not) and the interior lights illuminate when a second number of the code is pressed. well, and I can enable or disable autolock using the manual ingnition key method. Does anyone have any ideas or similar experience.

Sounds like a bum keypad to me... Should be easily replaced with one from a pull-n-pick yard.... The fact that the lock function works tells me it's not a RAP/GEM issue...
