KKM AIR FILTER

Hey I was wondering if the KKM air filter setup is street legal in California. It will go on a 99' explorer sport 4x4. Any other cool mods that I should look into like a jetchip or something?

Welcome to the site, Josh!

My first suggestion is that you use the search engine to find threads related to your questions. The KKM should fit on a '99, you probably have the SOHC V6. As for legality, I think it's only 49 state legal, but I could be mistaken. I know the K&N kit is 50 state legal, as is the K&N drop in. If you're interested in getting a chip, don't get a Jet, get a Hypertech or Superchip. I'm sure if you perform a search you'll find tons of info about the chips. Thanks for the welcome man! Does k&n make a cone filter setup for my 99' or do I have to go with the drop-in? Is the drop-in good?

The drop-ins are much better than stock, but not as good as the complete kits. However, K&N's kits can be expensive. My suggestion is to go with a drop-in and remove part of the airbox, or drill some holes in it. There are a million threads on this site about airboxes.
