Knocking coming from the dash

i have a 2004 ford explorer 4x4
recently started to hear a knocking coming from the dash.
tonight i had the key in the "on" postion only and still heard the knocking.
would stop if i turn the temperature dial from the far left postion.

does anyone have any suggestions

One of the blend door actuators is bad. If it changes with moving the temperature setting that I would say that this is the blend door actuator that is defective.

It's a light knocking sound that only happens once in awhile right? I think I might have that problem too.

But no, It is the blend door actuator. I got my part from Ford for 60$ and spend a few hours doing it. Read up on that big post with pictures and it isnt too tough.
