Hi all!

A couple weeks ago this started, and it's gotten louder since then. The volume has plateaued, but I'm worried this is a major problem. Any help is appreciated.

I've had the full-size spare on the rear/passenger side since the spring but the sound started a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if they're related. I also started parking on a steep uphill incline about a month ago. I'm not sure if that is related.

When I'm slowing down, I hear a loud knocking sound coming from the rear passenger side. The speed of the knocking is directly proportional to my speed. As I slow down, the knocking slows down. This continues all the way till I stop. The only time it doesn't make this knocking sound is if I'm pressing the gas, or if I press the brakes very hard. Any other time it knocks.

EDIT: It knocks when I press the brakes normally, but the other day I had to slam on the brakes and it doesn't knock if I press the brakes very hard. I reproduced this a couple times, so I'm certain. It also knocks if I'm travelling but don't have my foot on the brakes OR the gas (which means I'm slowing down).

Ideas?

Edited my post, check to see if the passenger rear brake pads didn't break apart or crack. It sounds like you problem is directly related to the passenger rear brake area. Check the rotor condition as well.

This and also, the rear emergency brake material is know to fall apart, I've had this happen on mine. Take the caliper off and pull the rotor, you'll be able to tell then.
