I'm looking to put new leaf springs on my 93 explorer, but I'm wanting to lift it about 2-3 inches. My question is do Jeep wrangler leaf springs, which are 5 leaf, fit on my vehicle? And will they provide the lift I'm looking for. I really don't want to do shackles or add a leaf because I need to replace them anyway.

Considering a heep is about 1/3 of the weight it would probably lower you...search for the f150 swap or just buy new skyjacker lift springs

no.....they wont fit....

the length is all wrong, and so is the weight...

:salute:

How do you do a F150 swap? Can you just put them on or do you have to move brackets?

Old Man Emu makes 2.5" lift rear leaf springs for the Explorer (part # CS042R).

Companies like Skyjacker and Rough Country make 1.5-2.5" coil lift springs for the front to go with them.

""Most"" rangers will lower a explorer.we use explorer leafs on rangers to gain 1.5-2" of lift

I say your wrong, even the weakest ranger leaf pack yields 1050lbs......haha
I don't see that "lowering" anything.....considering most pre2000 V6 explorers
have the 900lb packs on them.

matter of fact, I have a 2001 ranger (edge) leafs on my truck rated at 1750lbs,
and are ULTRA stiff and still have ALOT of arch to them....nothing like the
weak-ass stock leafs I had on there.

thanks anyway though

:salute:

I just saw that you have 1st gen explorers/rangers.....if so your statement
would (somewhat)stand true......we also must remember that the ARCH from
the ranger, and F150 are arched for a spring over axle.....as our explorers
are under...haha

Well I know for a fact I have explorer leafs on my 94 ranger and it gave me 2" lift so..and like I said ""MOST""..most rangers are 3 leaf including the over load and explorers are 4, naturally your gain lift from the extra leaf thickness...

And your welcome

Maybe there's a way to just put the springs over the axle?

Thats called a spring over axle, or SOA. That will get you 5+" of lift..

Personally, I really like the ride of the OME springs.. I'm ready for a 2nd set as the set I have now has way too many miles on it and has gone inverted on a regular basis for years...

I run an explorer rear end and springs.with sua for a drop.instead of getting 5+ inches of drop you run explorer leafs and get 3ish inches of drop.and yes there is more to it than just weight rating and there is WAYYYYY more leaf setups than that link you posted, it doesn't even list the mono leaf.like I said ""most"" sure there is models that probably are stiffer but if you run the average 3 pack ranger in a explorer with soa you will lose lift compared to a 4 pack.willing to bet even in sua you may lose some lift depending on the leaf setup or model it came from

I looked it up today...ranger leaf packs have less arch....and are stiffer
than explorer excluding sports, which I believe is a 750lb mono, im not
positive about that.

explorer packs have more arch from being sprung under.

the V8 explorers have a 1100lb pack which would be the stiffest pack
1st gen all come with 1200lb packs....which I think is awesome.

I may look into getting a 1st pack for my truck

I looked on oldman emu and I can only find springs for the ranger. Is there another site?

arb usa is the is dist for old man emu.

That's exactly what mine are doing so I'm getting a new set anyway but I want a 2 inch lift or 2.5, I have put 31 inch tires on and this is the reason I want the lift. Any suggestions on where to get them for reasonable?

Looked at arb usa. I cannot find any springs for the explorer I have. Somebody left a part number but I searched and couldn't find that part number on that site.

Since we know the part #'s (ome-36 and cs042r) we can find it that way...

If anyone needs just stock springs rockauto carrys them.they even carry f150 leafs with a 2450 rating and say will give 3" of lift.that should give about 5" of lift sua.think the regular ones give you about 1-2"priced good to, around $130
