What would be causing a leak where the engine and the tranny meet? It doesn't leak when it's sitting overnight, just when I'm driving. Would that indicate something wrong with the torque converter? Should their be any tranny fluid in that area around the back side of the torque converter?

I got to ask how you know it leaks while driving and not while sitting?
no drips in your driveway?

You also don't say what fluid is leaking? Is it red or brown?

I had a leak in that area, red fluid, and it was the front pump seal on the transmission.
It was costly but for me under warranty. The seal was $7, the labor was $700 as the transfercase and transmission had to come out.

Redish brown. I wipe up area around the leak and it won't continue leaking, but when I drive it, I have fluid all over that area due to the wind blowing the fluid on the bottom. I do get spots in the driveway, but it doesn't keep dripping after i wipe it up.

Yip sounds like the front pump seal on the transmission. Its where the torque converter shaft goes in. when sitting there is no pressure on the fluid so it just drips. Sounds like its leaking enough that when the truck is running, and the trans fluid is under pressure, its coming out.

sounds like I damaged it somehow when I did my engine swap. When I removed the engine, I didn't unbolt the torque converter from the torque plate. Noobie mistake I guess.

Yea its not that uncommon to ONLY get a leak when you are driving.
Heat causes expansion...gaskets and metal expand when running the engine.

I had the same problem with a cheap radiator from Autozone....

It ONLY leaked while driving!
NEVER leaked while sitting!

I finally started up the car and watched the radiator....as the car warmed up, the left side of the radiator started to bubble and leak eventually....
The heat caused enough expansion and eventually the pressure from the radiator/coolant system caused it to start dripping....
