i installed a dynomax exhaust system yesterday and everything went fine, but i was left with the exhaust gasket and nowhere to put it (to go in between the catalytic converter and the intermediate pipe to the muffler). is this really important? i tried to fit it in there but it would not stay on its own because the catalytic exit pipe had a metal fitting on the end that looked similar to the gasket. so, i just left it out. when i was taking apart the old pipes, i never saw a gasket.

If you now have an exhaust leak, then yes, it was important. If it doesn't leak, then you're fine.

alright, i just wasnt sure if i should hang on to it or what. im getting a state inspection soon so they will prob tell me for sure if i have any leaks (id prob fail if i did), but i didnt notice any.

we'll see....

Start it up and move your hand around where the 2 pieces meet. If you feel air, then you have a leak. Also, you would hear it leaking if it was really bad.
