I heard back! It's in Bombay Beach, which is about directly across the sea from Truckhaven. Google "Bombay Beach" and read up and look at pics, it's a post-apocalyptic area at 227 feet below sea level.
Here's the email:
"Here is the information on my property which is adjoining--I can send you the legal description of my brother's property for sale when I get it. He is willing to take $1,000 down and prefers you pay the escrow fees and will take payments of $150 or so a month at 5% interest. Other deals can be negotiated.
The property is flat and useable and this one is a more desirable rectangular shape.
Thank you for your interest and hope to hear from you soon. Hopefully we can work out some kind of deal.
The legal/parcel description is:
The east 330 feet (m/l) of the west 1650 feet of the northwest 1/4 of Section 13, Township 9 South, Range 11 East, S.B.B.&M., being 20 acres more or less, according to the U.S. Government Survey (dated Feb. 1971).
Description on tax statement: E330 FT OF W 1650 FT OF NW1/4 SEC 13 T9S R11E 20
Assessor's Parcel No. 002-580-010-000
Google or Google Earth should show where the property is located.
Salton Sea is in Imperial County north of El Centro--on the northeast shore between Bombay Beach and North Shore. On the attachment, the "X" marks my property and the one adjoining is my brother's. At the bottom is the road and railroad tracks. At one time we were receiving royalties for geothermal activity. There is an Indian casino going to be built in the area and plans to convert this area to make it more recreational.
Two attachments enclosed.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to answer them."
